Join us! Your OpportunityGlumac is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Project Manager for our Portland, OR Office. A hybrid work environment is available to staff that can demonstrate good communication, quality, and accountability across their work products and efforts. The office is always available for those that desire an in-office environment full-time.   Your ImpactThis role will entail:

  • Project Management
    • Ensures that important project information such as schedules, budgets and design decisions are communicated to both internal and external project team members.
    • Directly or indirectly involved in writing the Proposal and Fee.
    • Responsible for direct and regular interaction with the Client to manage their needs, budget, expectations and project schedules.
    • Have a solid understanding of the scope of the work to be performed.
    • Work directly with the Program Manager throughout the project to ensure the success of the project.
    • Work directly with Project Operations Team and Project Accountants to ensure that a profitable project is achieved.
    • In-depth knowledge of the financial aspect of the project to ensure financial success of the project.
    • Coordination and management of the internal project team as they perform their required engineering tasks.
    • Ensure the internal project team has the necessary tools and receives regular and timely information to produce a successful project.
    • Main point of contact for the Project.
    • Responsible for delivering an end project that satisfies the Client.
  • Mechanical Engineering
    • Be able to act as “Engineer of Record” and lead Mechanical Engineer.
    • Mechanical Engineering candidates must have a solid understanding of HVAC designs and commercial systems with applications in a variety of projects including but not limited to: health care, higher education, data centers, mission-critical, light rail, laboratories, high-rise offices, and central utility plant experience.
  • Provide overall leadership and contribute to marketing and business development for the office as well as mentoring the mechanical staff. Assist in marketing and development of new and existing Clientele.
  • Participate in activities and organizations related to our industry outside of daily business routine, developing peer relationships, technical growth, and business contacts.
  • Lead face-to-face and other technical communication with clients on MEP topics.
  • Prioritize engineering project team labor to meet multiple moving deadlines and understand project financial budgets.
  • Review MEP systems designed by others, interface with code officials and contractors, working with architects and other clients.
  • Lead assigned project teams as they perform their tasks and participate in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
  • Proven leadership experience and managerial experience are a must.
  • Knowledge and experience must include using software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, and MS Office to perform complex calculations, proficiency in Building, Electrical and Mechanical Codes and Standards.
  • Superior client-facing/client relationship/client management skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • 8+ years of previous experience within the AEC industry with a consulting engineering or A/E firm, including marketing and business development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Significant sustainable design experience is a plus.
  • LEED Accreditation is a plus.
  • WELL Certification is a plus.
