Job Description
Senior Structural Engineer – New Orleans, LAWe are offering an exciting opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineer in our New Orleans, LA office. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of transportation design including roads, bridges, hydraulics, drainage, and dam safety projects. The Senior Structural Engineer will also supervise junior engineering staff and other technical staff.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed plans and construction documents for the assigned task
- Perform engineering calculations pertaining to and in support of the detailed plans and construction documents for roadways and bridges
- Develop contract specifications and preparations of contract bid documents
- Coordinate various disciplines of design and pay items within the construction documents
- Supervise the preparation of construction cost estimates (Engineer’s Estimate)
- Lead a team of structural engineers and drafters, as well as coordinate with other project disciplines
- Attend internal project meetings and contribute information as requested by the PM, or other staff.
- Assist with preparation of proposals
Requirements:
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering; MS preferred; PE required
- At least 10 years of conceptual, preliminary, and final design and plan production experience, as well as a familiarity with Louisiana DOTD details and production
- Experience in preparation of plans and other contract documents
- Bridge rating experience is a plus
- Experience with computer drafting and structural analysis models
- Good writing and communication skills required
