From rail systems to ports linking land and sea – when it comes to connecting the people and places of tomorrow, the future of transport depends on us.Our top-ranked Ports & Maritime team is seeking a Port Planner & Development Engineer to manage and deliver tasks and projects that expand, modernize, optimize, digitize, and decarbonize existing marine cargo terminals, and to plan and design new greenfield facilities. Your efforts will be primarily focused on the public and private North American containerized cargo market but shall also include other cargo types (such as liquid bulk, dry bulk, Ro-Ro, and passenger) and international project work. You will be leading the development and review of terminal plans, drawings, cost estimates, schedules, reports, and specifications. You will also be responsible for the financial performance, technical quality, safety of your team, and client satisfaction on the projects that you manage.In addition to client project work, you will support the regional, national, and global Ports & Maritime team position itself for new project opportunities, develop and grow client and industry relationships, and establish and leverage internal Jacobs’ relationships with other markets/practices/regions to deliver projects and grow our business. Additionally, the successful candidate will support sales, strategy, client development, and staff mentoring initiatives. • Substantial post graduate professional years of experience working in the planning, engineering, program/construction management, delivery, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of marine terminal projects (preferably container-related)
• An understanding of marine cargo terminal operations, planning, development, and the port and terminal market
• Knowledge of port electrification, decarbonization, and sustainable solutions
• Proven experience managing projects, including financial, commercial, and technical acumen
• Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and organization skills
• Competency in AutoCAD and MS Office
• The ability to lead and/or support proposals
• The ability to lead and work with multi-disciplinary teams
• The ability to travel within the US and internationally
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), or ability to obtain Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Master’s degree in Engineering
• Existing relationships with and understanding of public and private sector port clients
• Experience with digital solutions, electrification, and offshore wind infrastructure
• Competency in Civil 3D, Arc GIS and Adobe Illustrator
• Competency in industrial operations/logistics/traffic modelling software
• Professional Engineer license, AICP certification, or equivalent
