We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help our company, clients and communities discover hidden value from a variety of environmental data. In this role, you will have the chance to work on a broad range of consulting projects with a focus on supporting our global client base. You should be highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math, and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data.Based in the US, you’ll be a key member of our team, to help design, architect, and deliver complex technical solutions and be passionate about applying cutting edge technology. In this role, you will leverage your experience in senior technology leadership, databases, automation, team building, and visualization while collaborating with experts in various disciplines to apply these technologies on a variety of projects.Typical activities will include:• Collaborate with Jacobs’ subject matter experts and solution development teams• Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges• Identify data sources and automate collection processes• Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns• Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms• Present information using data visualization techniques• Prepare documentation explaining results• Develop and implement project plans and work assignments, ensure product quality, on-schedule, and on-budget completion, and emphasizing safety as highest priorityHere’s What You’ll Need:• Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst• Experience in data mining• Experience applying data science in Jacobs’ markets, especially environmental applications• BS/BA in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Engineering, Geography, or related discipline with 15+ years of experience; graduate degree or higher in Data Science or other quantitative field is preferred.• Significant experience with designing data lifecycle solutions ranging from mobile data collection and data engineering, to data warehousing, database management, and data visualization• Understanding of machine-learning workflows, data management, technology stacks• Extensive knowledge and experience in Python, R, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL; familiarity or passion to learn JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, C#, and/or C++; GitHub and Azure DevOps• Ability to design and customize database schemas, create materialized views, and stored procedures• Experience using business intelligence tools (i.e., Power BI, Tableau) and data frameworks (i.e., Hadoop, Mongo)• Experience with Docker in production environments• Working experience with Cloud based environments like Azure, AWS, or GCP• Ability to architect enterprise approaches to synchronize disparate data feeds from flat files, queues, APIs, and databases• Experience with ELT approaches to querying insights easily using tools like Google Big Query, or Azure Synapse Analytics• Experience with Python and experience with the following Python libraries: ArcPy, ArcGIS Python API, Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, pyodbc, and sqlalchemy.• Experience with open source approaches to delivery• Experience designing data warehouse solutions to support performant insights• Understanding of network architectures as they relate to varying premises• US citizenship is requiredIdeally, You’ll Also Have:• Analytical mind and business acumen; problem-solving aptitude• Display attributes of a senior consultant (team player, eagerness to network, self-starter that takes initiative, versatile, and has a client service mentality)• Exhibit excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to discuss projects with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and internal team members, and in public in meetings as well as excellent writing skills by producing concise and readable documentsJacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
