• Newcastle or Gosford location. “Work your way” and have the work life balanceJob Description:The RoleCardno’s national Geotechnical Services team provide integrated civil, environmental, hydrogeological and geotechnical engineering consulting services to a wide range of private and public sector clients working on infrastructure and developments across Australia. Our Northern NSW office based in Newcastle and Gosford is looking to continue to grow its capabilities across the Asia Pacific South region.Our Northern NSW business unit has a mix of multidiscipline engineers and scientists, the geotechnical team has approx. 11 dedicated geotechnical engineers and we are looking for a leader and mentor to supervise the work load and ensure a quality service to our clients. Our range of projects varies from linear infrastructure projects including roads and bridges, rail embankments and cuttings to slope remediation’s and private land developments.This position would suit someone who is already in a supervisory position looking for a change or a Senior Geotechnical Engineer ready to take the next step into a managerial role. Client Relationship Management will be a key aspect of this position and candidates with local experience will be an advantage.This is an outstanding opportunity to have the coastal lifestyle and career opportunities Specifically, your duties will include:

  • Lead and supervise the geotechnical team ensuring quality of service
  • Work on a wide range of projects which will include mining infrastructure, land development, roads, rail, bridges and pipelines
  • Build strong, respectful, client relationships offering a quality service.
  • Undertake and review geotechnical analysis, modelling and design in areas such as slope stability, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls and excavation design
  • Train and mentor junior staff
  • Contributing to innovation and thought leadership activities
  • Work with a wide variety of experienced professionals in a multi-disciplinary international consulting services company

About youIn addition to your enthusiasm and drive, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in, Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology and extensive relevant experience in dedicated geotechnical roles
  • Good track record in leading and delivering projects; ensuring work outputs are of a high technical standard, on time and on budget
  • Have excellent report writing including experience with design and interpretive reports, communication skills and demonstrated experience delivering projects across a range of industry sectors
  • Strong collaborative work ethic and capable of working within a dynamic environment
  • Experience in supervising and developing junior staff
  • Well-developed creative and problem-solving skills and excellent technical ability
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and client liaison
