Job Description

TALENT is at the core of our business.Our Applied Science practice leverages a unique combination of technologies and expertise to engineer practical solutions to problems of national and international importance.  We apply expertise in solid and fluid dynamics, materials science, acoustics, risk assessments and computational simulation methods to solve complex problems. We preform research, mathematical modeling, software development and design to manage risks to life safety in military platforms and installations, ships and submarines, critical infrastructure, tall buildings, public facilities, industrial and petrochemical plants and automotive and airborne vehicles. Military, government, corporate and academic clients’ value the validation of Applied Science’s software and the critical insights gained from correlating analysis with testing. The RoleOpportunity to work on and learn from client funded projects as an intern under the supervision of licensed engineers.  The successful candidate will be able to work as part of a team of engineers and architects on all phases of Structural Engineering design and analysis for a variety of multidisciplinary Architectural & Engineering projects.  Project phases will range from early programmatic studies, to design development, and construction administration.  The ideal candidate is eager to learn from experience engineers.   Requirements:

  • Entry level understanding of structural engineering design and analysis concepts.
  • Interest in designing structural systems of all sizes and types, not limited to buildings.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, EXCEL, Power Point, etc.
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • A self-motivating eager to learn personality desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Senior pursuing an ABET accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Civil (structural focus) or Structural Engineering.
  • Registered EIT in the State of New Mexico.
  • Experience performing structural engineering calculations with PTC MathCAD, EXCEL, etc.
  • Experience performing structural engineering analysis with FEA software such as SAP2000, RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, etc.
  • Experience complying with structural design codes such as IBC 2015, ACI 318-14, ASCE 7-10, etc.
  • Experience with design/drafting software such as Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, etc. 
  • Experience reading and interpreting design and construction plans.
  • A working knowledge of Microstation and REVIT.
