The Role:The successful applicant will be involved in a range of projects, including technical input to pit slope evaluations (design) and engineering support to operating mines. Duties will cover all aspects of the projects, including the design and supervision of geomechanical site investigation programs, development of geotechnical models, stability analyses, and technical report preparation. Duties will also include project management and coordinating the activities of other team members. The successful applicant will travel both domestically and internationally to meet the needs of our clients.An Ideal Candidate:The successful candidate will be a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with academic specialization and/or experience in Rock Mechanics, a M.S. degree in Geotechnical or Geological engineering, Professional Engineer registration (or eligibility for registration), and approximately 8 to 10 years of relevant engineering experience.Relevant work experience includes some of the following:
- Surface rock mechanics/open pit slope stability evaluation
- Geomechanical site investigations
- Rock mass classification and the selection of geomechanical domains
- Numerical modeling
- Slope stability assessments and analyses for pit slopes
Practical work experience specifically related to mining or civil rock mechanics projects. This may include experience with open pit slopes or other slope stability evaluations. Fluency in English, experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, and the ability to work effectively with clients are necessary requirements.Experience in the consulting industry, experience with numerical modeling, application of probability theory and the ability to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese will be considered assets.Work Environment:Work will be in both office and field environment with travel to various outdoor sites determined by project needs. Adherence to safety standards including those of the firm, MSHA, OSHA is mandatory.In accordance with Colorado state law, the following Annual compensation range is applicable for the job and Colorado location associated with this requisition: $87,000 – 106,000/year.
