Primary duties include Forestry and Forest Ecology technical support and leadership for potential environmental analysis, hazards and risk assessments, resiliency and sustainability planning and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams of scientists to serve our local, state, federal, utility and private clients.Job Description:Cardno is seeking an Environmental Scientist V to assist a multidisciplinary team of accomplished environmental scientists, including engineers, biologists, ecologists, archaeologists, and planners on a variety of projects throughout the western United States out of our Zephyr Cove-Lake Tahoe, Nevada office. Primary duties include Forestry and Forest Ecology technical support and leadership for potential environmental analysis, hazards and risk assessments, resiliency and sustainability planning and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams of scientists to serve our local, state, federal, utility and private clients.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
> Project management>Technical leadership within a program or complex project.
> Acts as an authority for approval of project work in their field
> Conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance work and ensure proper reviews and/or surveys are completed by Cardno staff or subcontractors according to client schedule.> Complete desktop reviews to determine appropriate levels and types of environmental reviews needed for new projects.> Engagement in the process and willingness to identify process improvements to provide benefit to our clients.Basic Qualifications:
> Minimum of 12+ years’ experience..
> Bachelor degree (or higher) in forestry, biology, ecology, environmental studies or related field.> Registered Professional Forester (RPF)
> Excellent oral and written communication.
> Outgoing personality to network within Cardno, with outside clients (public and private sectors) and potential clients
> Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel and MS word
> Strong quantitative skills> Budget management
> Self-motivated; strong initiative.
> Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines.> Ability to comply with all Cardno and client policies including those related to safety, anti-harassment, and drug use.
> Willingness to travel and work in a variety of field conditions across the west.
> Must be physically fit and able to navigate rugged conditions on foot> Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship.
> GIS (Arc View)
> Experience with desktop analysis for determination of field survey needs for projects
