Primary ResponsibilitiesHDR has two excellent opportunities to join our strong and growing Coastal Practice group. One of these positions will be based in one of our East Coast/Gulf Coast offices, and one position will be based in one of our Pacific Coast offices. We are seeking qualified PE’s with project management experience and the ability to execute projects and help expand our coastal services practice in new regions and markets in the Northeast Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the U.S. Candidates should have a strong technical background in coastal engineering projects such as flood protection; marsh restoration and beach nourishment; shoreline stabilization and protection; and navigation. Responsibilities will include managing projects, serving as coastal engineering technical lead, mentoring junior staff, development and implementation of business strategies for growth of our coastal services practice; leading and supporting pursuit teams, and preparing proposals including project scope and fee estimates. Suitable candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills and demonstrate familiarity with wave growth and transformation, coastal and estuarine hydrodynamics, littoral processes, sediment transport, marine dredging, and basic geotechnical or structural systems.
Required Qualifications · BS degree in Coastal, Ocean, or Civil (Hydraulic, Geotechnical, or Structural emphasis) – MS or PhD in Coastal or Ocean Engineering is preferred.· Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain in 6 month period.· 15+ years of relevant experience (i.e. consulting, construction, research, etc.).· Project management experience.· Experience preparing construction plans and specifications.· Experience preparing technical reports.· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.· Ability to work both independently and in group environments.· An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
