The Role

BGC is seeking a Principal Geotechnical or Geological Engineer to work with our pipeline team. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience, the ability to manage project teams while working in diverse environments, and a desire to occasionally travel and work in remote locations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead and technical reviewer for geotechnical pipeline projects
  • Manage projects, including proposals, budgets, schedules, staffing, and scope
  • Manage and work effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Travel to project locations, as well as client and BGC offices
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior, intermediate and senior professional staff in the field and office
  • Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff
  • Lead and support business development and strategic initiatives

Required Education, Experience & Competencies

  • 20 years of experience
  • Undergraduate degree in civil or geological engineering is required
  • Post-graduate degree specializing in geotechnical engineering is desirable
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering and engineering geology
  • Experience in geohazard risk management and/or geotechnical pipeline design and construction services
  • Project management skills
  • Capable and interested in mentoring junior staff
  • Proven communication skills
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer
