Area Business Development ManagerGeocomp has a unique opportunity for a Business Development person with geotechnical or related technical work experience to serve as a key contributor helping to identify and win projects in the Los Angeles area and throughout California.  This person will collaborate within Geocomp’s Leadership Team to grow the west coast practice.When you join Geocomp, you will find a welcoming, collaborative and supportive culture.  One that encourages you to do your best work and to deliver best practice solutions to our clients.  We encourage our employees to strive for personal excellence and to act with integrity and honesty.  We are looking for candidates who want to make an impact by identify prospective new clients and opportunities, understanding the client’s needs and expectations, and translating that understanding into sales.  Those who take initiative and who are self-motivated will thrive in Geocomp’s environment. Primary Responsibilities As an Area Business Development Manager, you will develop pursuit strategies, prepare for and facilitate presentations, RFQ and RFP responses, and participate in the preparation of proposals and bids.    You will lead efforts to build and maintain strong sales pipelines and forecasts associated with substantiated opportunities for the Los Angeles office. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Planning for new opportunities in our target markets in CA
  • Developing local marketing plans
  • Leading business development activities
  • Participating in client meetings with technical staff and project managers
  • Performing market research to identify new business opportunity leads
  • Attending industry related organization functions
  • Developing and capturing unsolicited opportunities with clients to increase sales
  • Leading efforts to build and maintain strong sales pipelines and forecasts associated with substantiated opportunities for the LA office
  • Developing pursuit strategies, prepare for and facilitate presentations, support the RFQ and RFP process
  • Generating qualified leads related to geotechnical and instrumentation and health monitoring services
  • Converting qualified leads into sales

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of Geotechnical, Civil or related technical experience
  • Minimum five years of business development, client interaction, pursuit of opportunities and proposal development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or related technical field
  • Understanding of local Geotechnical instrumentation market
  • Ability to demonstrate professional judgment, consistency and strong attention to detail
  • Experience preparing proposals and bids to general contractors/other engineering firms
  • Familiarity with risk management principles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with CRM databases, social media and other marketing campaign strategies
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.  Must have reliable transportation and good driving record

 Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or suitable equivalent
  • Experience with Deltek and Salesforce a plus.
