Come join us and help shape the future! WSP is currently initiating a search for a Supervising Geotechnical Engineer for our New York office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and management of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing program
  • Management of geotechnical subconsultants
  • Management of projects and geotechnical tasks
  • Preparation of geotechnical design and analysis for foundations, embankments/cuts, earth retaining systems for transit/transportation projects
  • Development of plans and specifications related to geotechnical, underground and foundation engineering
  • Preparation of geotechnical reports and memorandums
  • Providing geotechnical support during construction

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited school of engineering; MS in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in geotechnical design and construction
  • NY PE registration
  • Proven experience in NYC area geotechnical practice and geology
  • Proven experience in geotechnical project planning, design and preparation of reports
  • Proven experience in foundation design and analysis, and preparation of geotechnical plans and specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in construction inspection, boring inspection, sampling and testing of soils and rocks, classification soils and rock, preparation of boring logs, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in using geotechnical engineering software such as SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, LPILE, GROUP, DEEPEX, ct-Shoring, GRLWEAP, STABL, PLAXIS, PHASE2, FLAC, PROSHAKE, etc.
  • Ability and willingness for travel and field work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
