Job Description

Job SummaryHomestead Building Systems, Inc., has been servicing the Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. Area with the finest truss systems and wall panels for residential construction since 1996. Founded by David Baird, Homestead provides framing manufacturing, distribution, and construction services to the most respected home builders in the marketplace. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing all framing crews and ensuring each job runs in an efficient and timely manner. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience in home building. PMs play an integral role in ensuring that Homestead Carpentry develops a solid reputation for framing the highest quality homes and having excellent customer service.   Responsibilities

  • Oversees all job-site rough carpentry scope of work 
  • Manage framing, cornice, or other subcontractor crews including determining staffing needs and payroll reporting on multiple jobs 
  • Ensure each project adheres closely to the framing schedule 
  • Schedule delivery of materials to job sites to ensure the required materials arrive in a timely manner 
  • Coordinate project schedule with Home Builders’ Site Superintendents 
  • Communicate project progress reports 
  • Determine and track maintenance of forklifts and man-lifts 
  • Estimate and submit change orders in a detailed and timely manner 
  • Ensure all design specifications are met 
  • Create punch lists throughout each phase of construction. Ensure the punch-out items are completed. Take detailed photos of property. 
  • Conduct a thorough final inspection to ensure that all work was completed properly 
  • Strive to complete projects within the assigned budget, and continuously seek ways to reduce construction costs and streamline processes 
  • Manage all paperwork and electronic files in a timely and organized way 
  • Other duties as assigned 

  Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of Rough Carpentry Project Management experience in residential construction 
  • High School Diploma preferred 
  • Minimum 3 years of Project Management experience 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Adobe, and Excel 
  • Fluent in Spanish and English preferred

  Travel

  • Position requires frequent travel throughout VA, on rare occasions this position requires travel of greater distances and will include overnight stays

  • This position requires consistent lifting, pulling, bending, standing throughout the day 
  • Must be able to detect issues in the roof trusses and wall panels; communicates constantly with others 

  Work Environment

  • This position operates on construction sites where there’s exposure to inclement weather, sometimes working in heat and cold. At times the noise level may be loud
