Job Description

  Hardesty & Hanover is seeking a senior level Structural (Bridge) Engineer to work out of either our New York, New Jersey or Florida offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • The successful candidate will lead Complex/Segmental Concrete Bridge projects and design staff. The position’s responsibilities include supervision, staff recruitment, staff technical development, design and quality control of construction documents for simple and complex bridges (primarily of post-tensioned and segmental concrete construction), involvement in all phases of structural project development including marketing, planning, scheduling, inspection as required, analysis, design and technical specifications and reports and post design services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead hiring development of an H&H Segmental Bridge design staff, including hiring and technical development
  • Oversee complex bridge projects from design through the post-design (construction) phase
  • Perform Independent Technical Reviews and Quality Control Reviews of complex bridge designs performed by others
  • Assist in Marketing / Pursuit of Major Bridge Projects
  • Prepare and Supervise Plans, Specifications, & Estimates
  • Prepare Bridge Layouts:
    • Horizontal\Vertical Geometrics
    • Span Lengths and Arrangements
    • Foundation Types
  • Prepare and Supervise Superstructure Design:
    • Prestressed Concrete Beams (I-beams, U-Beams, Box Beams, etc..), simple span and continuous post-tensioned configurations
    • Segmental Concrete Bridge Design
  • Prepare and Supervise Substructure Design:
    • Single and Multi-Column Piers
    • Foundation Analysis (Driven Piles, Drilled Shafts, Spread Footings, etc.)

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering required; MS in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis preferred
  • Florida PE or SE or ability to obtain through reciprocity required
  • 15+ years bridge/structural design experience required with 10+ years of experience with analysis and design of Segmental Bridges
  • Experience with Construction Engineering of Segmental Bridges required
  • Experience with Alternative Delivery of major bridge/transportation projects preferred
  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software, including time-dependent and non-linear analysis software required
  • Experience mentoring junior staff required
  • Experience leading the technical aspects of segmental bridge project pursuits required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required along with communication skills appropriate for working in a team environment
