Job Description

Melick-Tully and Associates, a Division of GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineers to join our team in the Central New Jersey office for the technical execution of a large variety of building, energy, and other infrastructure projects for both public and private entities.

Typical Duties May Include:

Performing outdoor, all-season, on-site geotechnical field tasks such as fill construction, foundation installation observation and testing, subsurface explorations, and construction monitoring

Conducting subsurface geotechnical investigations in connection with building, infrastructure and other development projects

Providing field engineering consultation and analysis of subsurface data and construction conditions

Writing drafts of field and engineering reports

Providing geotechnical monitoring and using instrumentation to record vibrations, settlements, slope movements, water levels, and other critical engineering data

Reducing and summarizing engineering data for inclusion in interpretive reports for clients, preparing plans

Documenting and preparing reports on the geotechnical aspects of construction projects

Performing geotechnical computer modeling and analysis of deep and shallow foundation settlements, lateral pile analyses, slope stability, groundwater dewatering predictions


Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) required (Master’s Degree is a plus)

0-3 years of relevant experience

Highly motivated self-starter with a professional attitude

Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving and organizational skills are essential

Ability to perform field tasks and activities as required by the project

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to travel at local and regional levels

40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and environmental investigation experience is a plus

Geotechnical modeling programs such as GRL WEEP, STABL, SETTLE3D, L-PILE
