We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (with academic specialization and/or experience in Rock Mechanics) in our Denver office.
The successful applicant will have a M.S. degree in Geotechnical or Geological engineering, Professional Engineer registration (or eligibility for registration), and approximately 8 to 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
Relevant work experience includes some of the following:
Surface rock mechanics/open pit slope stability evaluation
Geomechanical site investigations
Rock mass classification and the selection of geomechanical domains
Slope stability assessments and analyses for pit slopes
Practical work experience specifically related to mining or civil rock mechanics projects is a requirement. This may include experience with open pit slopes or other slope stability evaluations. Fluency in English, experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, and the ability to work effectively with clients are necessary requirements.
Experience in the consulting industry, experience with numerical modeling, application of probability theory and the ability to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese will be considered assets.
The successful applicant will be involved in a range of projects, including technical input to pit slope evaluations (design) and engineering support to operating mines. Duties will cover all aspects of the projects, including the design and supervision of geomechanical site investigation programs, development of geotechnical models, stability analyses, and technical report preparation. Duties will also include project management and coordinating the activities of other team members. The successful applicant will travel both domestically and internationally to meet the needs of our clients.
