Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel Engineering dam design group is seeking a Senior Dam Engineer to support our growing business. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of and help support a strong team.

Job Responsibilities:

Fieldwork and travel may be required.

Preparation of design calculations and drawings (sketches) and providing design support during construction.

Manage projects through investigation, design, and construction.

Develop engineering scope of work and cost estimates.

Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports.

Perform project management activities including communicating resource needs, planning and delegating work, management of project budgets, invoicing and backlog reporting.

Manage client relationships and business development opportunities.

Manage and mentor junior engineers, commensurate with experience level.

Prepare design drawings and reports, specifications.

Conduct dam inspections, construction observation, and materials testing.

Effective time management, written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to efficiently balance multiple concurrent tasks, responsibilities, and commitments.

Required Skills/Experience:

Bachelor's degree focused in Civil/Geotechnical/Structural Engineering, from an ABET-accredited institution. Candidates with a Master's Degree are preferred.

5+ years of relevant work experience in Geotechnical, Structural Engineering or Water Resources is required.

A current Professional Engineering license.

Experience developing detailed design drawings and specifications and/or who have familiarity with risk management and preparation of risk registers.

A strong work ethic and the desire to perform professionally at a high level.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

A positive attitude.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and must undergo a background check that may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit checks, plus a drug screen.
