Job Description

Job Summary

Homestead Building Systems, Inc., has been servicing the Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. Area with the finest truss systems and wall panels for residential construction since 1996. Our company provides framing, manufacturing, distribution, and construction services to the most respected home builders in the marketplace. We are looking for a detail-oriented and deadline-oriented accountant that will enhance the organization by assisting with various month-end close responsibilities to prepare monthly

financial statements. The candidate must be a self-starter with a developed comfort interfacing with all departments in the organization.

Responsibilities

Prepare month close journal entries (JE)

Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations

Prepare P&L flux analysis by analyzing data to identify trends and/or unusual variances

Assist in month-end and year-end closing

Compile PBC items for annual compilation and/or annual reviews

Prepare monthly/quarterly Sales & Use Tax and annual Property Taxes

Glean, compile and summarize data from multiple platforms and systems

Maintain daily/monthly/quarterly cash analysis

Maintain various adhoc schedules and files for such items as leases, fixed assets, LOC, company vehicles, commissions, accounting estimates, etc.

Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment

Processing vendor invoices, matching, batching and coding invoices into AP system including setting up new vendors

Posts customer payments by recording checks, ACH, and credit card transactions

Assist with customer billing, create and send out statement of accounts

Prepare vendor & customer analysis, research and resolve invoices discrepancies/issues

Maintains all AP & AR reports, spreadsheets and files

Research discrepancies and escalate issues to meet close dates

Participate in the documentation and update of processes and procedures and recommend changes for process improvement initiatives

Perform special projects, as required, to assist the company in achieving its goals and objectives

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in Accounting or related field

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Experience with accounting software (GP, PeopleSoft, Quickbooks, etc.)

Physical Demands

This position requires regularly sitting at a desk with occasional standing, lifting, or bending

Must be able to detect errors in documents and communicates constantly with others
