Job Description

Position Summary The primary objective of this role is to manage and grow the Engineering capabilities in the Division. – Support project temporary works design assistance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Estimating and Pursuit Responsibilities

Assess technical constructability of projects at the design and/or bidding stage

Be heavily involved with the division estimating team throughout the estimate

Manage in-house engineering processes and resources

Assist with negotiating and managing third-party design contracts

Construction Responsibilities

Work with construction managers and superintendents on planning, scheduling, and budgeting of engineering and design functions on division projects

Help determine project-related decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling, and performance

Support project engineering staff during construction of division-led projects. This includes personally performing engineering tasks and providing assistance and training to project engineering personnel as necessary

Assist project management teams with coordination of technical issues with subcontractors

Manage the execution of construction plans to specifications in accordance with all applicable codes and standards

Manage Engineered Systems Program for all division projects

Manage engineering functions required for equipment usage and upgrades

Support management of a central repository of engineering information

Employee Development Responsibities

Manage the flow of technical information between projects and throughout the division

Stay current on applicable software, to enhance productivity and engineering performance

Provide training for engineers through the company’s training program and/or onsite, as required

Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend events including, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, conferences, training, etc.

Working knowledge of computers and experience with the Microsoft Suite as well as experience with software necessary for estimating, CAD, structural analysis, and scheduling.

Required Experience


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required

Minimum 5-10 years engineering experience required

Project field experience preferred

PE required

Physical Requirements

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards

Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone

Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and routine keyboard operations
