We are currently seeking a Construction Manager to join the Oil & Gas team in our Alaska office.
Provide leadership to the Construction Management Team (CMT).
Help development of Construction Execution Plans
Ensure projects are executed safely and within all regulatory and environmental requirements.
Review incident reports and make recommendations on how to mitigate future incidents from occurring again.
Identify and communicate risks to the PMT. Work with the PMT to understand, analyze and manage these risks.
Ensure project quality requirements are met
Ensure timely and accurate reporting on all construction aspects of the project.
Work with the project controls group to ensure project reporting of cost and schedule are aligned meeting contractual requirement set for the contractors.
Work with the Project Manager (PM), CM and Client to manage change within the work scope.
Support and comply with Stantec’s Project Management Framework Ten Point Framework.
Ensure implementation of construction management processes and procedures (specifications, inspection procedures, quality assurance program, materials management program, HSSE requirements, cost and schedule management, etc.).
Ensure timely communication and resolution of technical issues that arise during construction with stakeholders and project engineering.
Assist in the coordination of inspection infrastructure including issuing and managing field issued purchase orders (PO) needed for site office, site services, communications, etc.
Participate in the review of contractor schedules (this includes “look ahead scheduling” with the contractor to ensure overall project schedules are met).
Ensure field construction records are documented and maintained as per Stantec and Owner requirements.
Provide constructability support to the project team from conceptual to design through execution.
Ensure effective field communications and coordination within functional departments.
Participate in ensuring construction deficiency lists are generated, maintained and followed-up to completion prior to contractor(s) demobilizing from site
Assist in conducting weekly meeting with contractors and field staff to validate schedule progress.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector Certification required for all pipeline work. This is not required for any non-pipeline construction work
Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills.
Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Advanced skills in use of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
Education and Experience
Post-secondary and/or 10-15 years industry experience equivalent. Minimum of 10 years of construction experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory role. High school & post-secondary education preferred.
Work environment is office and field setting.
