The role of a Senior Structural BIM Technician is to work with a structural engineering group in the Miami, FL office on small and large building projects to provide high-quality structural models and drawings to our clients. As a senior technician, you would provide guidance and supervision of other Structural BIM Technicians working with you and also manage the modeling efforts and drafting standards for Structural plans related to buildings such as mixed use, residential, hospitality, office, retail, and other civic structures.
Your Key Responsibilities
Uses knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks including 2D and 3D model development, completing design changes, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, plotting, and drafting using BIM and CAD platforms.
Communicate with structural engineers to develop their concepts, sketches or markups into accurate models and drawings.
Manage the work of other structural BIM technicians when leading BIM production.
Supervise production of structural models and drawing sets and ensure QA/QC protocols are implemented.
Collaborate and coordinate with all other discipline, including Architects and MEP Engineers.
Assist teaching engineers and new BIM technicians the software skills necessary to perform their work.
Manage and organize all incoming and outgoing model and drawing information.
Assist in the development of office BIM procedures or standards and promote their implementation into projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrated ability to maintain or create 3D structural BIM models.
Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team.
Participates in interdisciplinary coordination.
Expertise in software programs including but not limited to Revit and Autocad. Proficiency in analysis software, Dynamo or Visual Scripting is a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro or Bluebeam.
In-depth knowledge of structural drawings, standards and an understanding of the way buildings are constructed.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to supervise a small team of Structural BIM Technicians, provide training, delegate tasks and manage project schedules.
Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible and efficient approach to work assignments.
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 10 years of structural drafting experience.
Typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
