The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Metro Design Team Leader to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
Develop and implement successful design strategies, outlining how the design team will create deliverables and implement them for the project.
Manage a team of several designers, evaluating individual design deliverables and overall team performance. Provide critical feedback where needed and encourage team members throughout the duration of a project.
Identify improvement needs via training or new technology adaptation and lead new initiatives.
Train and develop the team to perform at par of Global standard, enabling the team to work on International design jobs and perform at a world class level.
Key Responsibilities:
In consultation with the Project Teams, clients and relevant stakeholders, Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
Providing sound and effective leadership on major rail & metro design projects by providing direction and technical advice
Provide the required technical leadership to staff and projects
Coach, mentor and provide technical leadership and guidance to the design team
Coordinating delivery of engineering design packages
Identifying and working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders
Identify training needs of the team members and prepare year-wise training schedule
Identify and adapt to advanced software implementation in the design.
Development & management of project scope through requirements management activities
Delivery of packages following management of change and engineering change processes
Ensuring adequate provision, deployment and management of technical resources
Driving project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes
Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring that client delivery is above expectation
Ensuring that effective financial and project management controls are in place
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Our Ideal candidate must have the following qualifications:
A graduate of BSc Civil Engineering or relevant field from any reputable university. Candidates with Masters’ Degree or Post Graduate Qualifications will be given preference.
He/she has 10-15 years’ working experience in the relevant field of Rail & Metro planning and designing;
He/she has delivered at least 5 Metro projects as Design Manager;
He/she has prior experience in both elevated and underground metro projects;
He/she has 360-degree know-how about delivering a metro project who can plan, build, organize, train a team capable of smooth delivery of the project;
