GZA is growing its water resources practice, primarily in the areas of water supply, water works, dam/levee assessment and design as well as in extreme flooding evaluation and flood control. We are currently seeking a Project Manager Level Civil/Water Resources Engineer for our practice based in the Hingham, Massachusetts office. The position offers great potential for professional growth in an exciting working environment and the opportunity to apply the latest technology to water resource and waterworks-related projects. The qualified candidate must have strong leadership and project management experience and direct business development experience during their careers, with the ability to generate project leads and build client relationships.
The Civil/Water Resources Engineer will work on a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to, public water system evaluations and advice, computer hydraulic modeling, pumping, treatment, distribution and storage facilities engineering, hydraulic structure design including hydropower restorations, dam/levee safety engineering, and related environmental permitting support. A sound knowledge of engineering principles relating to design and construction of waterworks, and other water infrastructure, is essential for this position. The successful candidate must have a strong civil background to support planning, design, and construction management activities for a variety of projects.
This is a management position that requires direct interaction with clients and the ability to manage and mentor GZA existing staff of project-level engineers. You will also work closely with GZA’s Technical Practice Group Leader in training staff and developing water supply services.. Project Managers have ownership opportunities with the firm and the potential for advancement to principal levels.
B.S. in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or related field of practice is required. Master’s Degree is a plus.
Professional Engineer license in MA or the ability to transfer a PE license to MA is required.
An ideal candidate will have at least 8 years’ experience in water works engineering, with direct involvement in water distribution system design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, treatment system designs, evaluation of water quality, and permitting.
Direct experience completing projects with public sector/municipal agencies in the New England Region is highly preferred.
Proven experience with design and development of engineering technical specifications, cost estimating and other related bidding documents.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to speak publicly
Solid project financial management skills; knowledge of production support systems and personal computer proficiency are all required competencies.
Experience in providing technical and project leadership to staff-level or junior engineers.
A strong background using various engineering software is desirable.
Proven experience with and directing staff with AutoCAD and ArcView-GIS is considered essential for this position
