Our GeoDesign group provides a broad range of consulting services including subsurface exploration and testing, analysis, detailed design, value engineering, construction-phase engineering and forensics. We provide our professional services to private and public-sector clients throughout the US and abroad. Our Services Include:

Underpinning of structures

Design of support of excavation (SOE) systems

Geo-hazards and stabilization of natural and man-made slopes and other earth systems/structures

Steel and concrete design, ground improvement, shallow and deep foundation systems

Earth retaining structures

Grouting programs

Design and oversight of positive cutoff walls, dewatering systems, cofferdams

Numerical analysis.

Job Responsibilities:

Some fieldwork and travel may be required.

Preparation of design calculations and drawings (sketches) and providing design support during construction

Manage projects through investigation, design, and construction

Develop engineering scope of work and cost estimates

Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports

Perform project management activities including communicating resource needs, planning and delegating work, management of project budgets, invoicing and backlog reporting

Manage client relationships and business development opportunities

Manage and mentor junior engineers, commensurate with experience level

Work as a team member within the GeoDesign engineering department and across other Schnabel offices to effectively balance workload among available resources

Occasionally perform fieldwork such as logging test borings, load testing, construction observation and on-site client consultation. Candidates must be physically able to manage active project sites with minimal supervision from the office.

Basic understanding and working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drafting software

Effective time management, written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to efficiently balance multiple concurrent tasks, responsibilities, and commitments.

Required Skills/Experience:

5 to 8 years of relevant work experience in geotechnical or structural engineering is required.

Bachelor's degree focused in civil/geotechnical/structural engineering, from an ABET-accredited institution. Candidates with a Master's Degree are preferred.

A current Professional Engineering license or the ability to get one within a year

Experience developing detailed design drawings and specifications and/or who have familiarity with risk management and preparation of risk registers

A strong work ethic and the desire to perform professionally at a high level.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required. No visa sponsorship will be provided

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and must undergo a background check that may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit checks, plus a drug screen.
