Fugro is currently seeking a highly motivated and technically outstanding engineer to lead our Marine Geotechnical team in the Americas. This position will be located in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will have an excellent reputation within the geotechnical community and exceptional leadership experience and will be highly organized, detail oriented, and creative. Working together as a global team, you will be expected to achieve extraordinary results in a demanding and challenging business environment that is constantly changing. A high degree of initiative and attention to detail are essential, as are strong communication skills. This role requires a person who is flexible and able to balance and prioritize field‑based and high-end consultancy projects.

Job Responsibilities

Overall development and growth of Marine Geotechnical activities in the Americas.

Overall financial performance of the Geotechnical group.

Support and guide all aspects of personnel management, including recruiting and staff development.

Promote an open and supportive culture for staff development.

Active involvement in marketing, new business development, and maintenance of relationships with our existing client base.

Support technical advancement with the Geotechnical group and seek consistency with best practice methods across the wider Fugro geotechnical community.

Promote our business line through regular publication in technical papers and conference participation.

Ensure implementation of technical assurance processes with assistance from the deputy department managers and global technical advisors.

Oversee resourcing and ensure that all work performed by the group is to the highest standard.

Provide specialized input into projects as required.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with external consultants, academic institutions, industry groups, regulatory authorities, and key technical personnel in Fugro.

Maintain a good technical and professional reputation with our client base.

Support the geoconsulting director and closely collaborate both with the geoscience manager and with the Norfolk office’s branch manager in wider level organizational management.

Define and implement new ways to improve business processes, revenue, profitability, and efficiencies.

Support other company service lines as needed on strategically important large business development opportunities.

Job Requirements

Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering required.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in offshore geotechnical engineering.

Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or able to obtain registration by reciprocity.

Strong technical background required; advanced degree and high professional visibility within the offshore engineering community preferred.

Demonstrable experience as a leader and at least 5 years of management experience required.

Ability to plan, resource, and execute multiple projects simultaneously required.

Excellent communication and client presentation skills.

Previous experience in marketing technical services preferred.
