This position provides geological modelling support for a myriad of projects to advance Nevada Gold Mines’ geological understanding. Use advanced modelling methods, and structural interpretations to create and modify existing geological models for further evaluation.
Create and maintain geological models for projects in the Mineral Resource Management group.
Create geological models using all available data
Create and modify geological model variables as needed for varying interpretations
Review literature and reports to understand how existing models were constructed
Utilize existing data to build high quality geological models. This includes mapping, geophysical, geochemical, geometallurgical and geotechnical data.
Work with the MRM Growth, Underground and Open Pit geology teams to better understand deposit geology
Develop MRM geologists to improve the technical skills of the MRM team.
Work with MRM geologists during the modelling process to teach modelling techniques
Work with the MRM geology team to build understanding of structural controls of mineralization
Work with the MRM geology group to improve understanding of applied practical geosciences such as geophysical interpretation, exploration targeting, and geological mapping.
Work with the Chief Geologist MRM to develop advanced modelling techniques for use across the region.
Bachelor of Science in Geology or related field required
Expertise working with geological modelling is required
Experience with modelling mining operations experience is preferred
Life-of-mine planning experience is preferred
Ten (10) years’ experience in the mining industry required
Experience working in a mining operation with a range of exposure to a broad spectrum of practical and technical areas required
Must be willing and able to work in a dynamic and changing environment required
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
Demonstrated software proficiency with relevant applications such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, Acquire, Move, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary groups to understand complex problems
Project management skills required
Well refined interpersonal skills for working with diverse groups of people are required
