Job Description

Position Summary

A Project Manager oversees operations of all aspects of multiple contracts for Simpson Strong-Tie Builder/LBM Solutions, both large and small volume to a quality that meets or exceeds total customer satisfaction, while working with a team to ensure quantity and quality of work is meeting or exceeding the customer requirements.

As with all Simpson Strong-Tie positions, this will require total customer satisfaction to be met or exceeded by providing consultation, technology, and service to our industries.

Responsibilities

35%: Lead, motivate and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization.

25%: Creating, communicating, administrating, and enforcing project schedules in designated software application to meet customer demands. Reviews, approves, denies and edits employee timecards and time off request to ensure staffing coverage. Ensure that all Simpson policies and procedures are adhered to by all team members.

25%: Coordinate workload with external customers, communicating timelines, standards, expected deliverables and develop new proposals for work being completed based on established contract. Travel to customer construction sites to build relationships and learn their standards and practices. Customer billing to be reported to accounting for invoice processing.

15%: Implement, control, analyze, and improve processes on projects in adherence to quality standards by running Quality Control reviews. Reports ongoing status with upper management and team to ensure departmental goals, objectives and strategies are met.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, or equivalent work experience in construction or technology-focused field required

2 years’ experience managing others

Communication: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience. Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, team members and customers.

Speaking: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups

Writing: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience

Coaching & Mentoring: Ability to make or elicit specific suggestions for improvement in a manner that builds confidence and maintains self esteem

Leadership: Ability to see the potential in others and take opportunities to apply and develop that potential

Staff Management: Ability to ensure staff have the skills and resources to get things done

Negotiation: Ability to settle differences so an agreement is reached while avoiding argument and dispute

Perseverance: Ability to continue effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties

Motivating: Creates a climate in which people want to do their best; can motivate many kinds of direct reports and team or project members

Travel Required

This job requires 10% domestic travel.
