Project Manager Transportation

Patrick Engineering is growing and we are seeking a skilled, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Project Manager – Transportation to join our Boston team. As a key member of Patrick’s Management Services Division, this candidate will assist the Client Project Manager and be responsible for various aspects of performance of large multi-discipline projects at Massport and other agencies. The ideal candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be a fast-learner, and have experience with financial accountability and client management.

The Project Manager – Transportation is responsible for the performance and management of projects, the resolution of technical problems, and for providing project controls support to our clients. The Project Manager – Transportation will assist the client to manage capital improvement projects to ensure that they are well planned, coordinated, scoped, budgeted, and designed. The successful candidate will also support the Client Project Manager to confirm that construction is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, with high quality, and with minimal operational impacts.


Proactively manage and assist clients to review project funding, budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and contractual obligations.

Assist the Client Project Manager in coordinating and securing internal and external project approvals.

Maintain and grow relationships with agency personnel.

Manage complex, multi-discipline projects including proactively developing solutions to technical problems.

Assist others in the development of deliverables and provide quality oversight.

Provide review of plans and specifications at both the macro and micro level as appropriate.

Provide review of claims and changes on public projects.

Provide review of design and construction estimates and schedules.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to manage complex projects of a multi-disciplinary nature.

Ability to adapt to changing conditions as well as to stand-their ground when needed.

Proactive and motivated to think critically. Self-starter who can work independently or part of a multi-discipline team.

Excellent client relationship management skills.

Strong technical written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to review consultant deliverables including plans and specifications to ensure adherence to financial, technical, and schedule requirements.


Minimum BS in Civil Engineering or related field.

7+ years of relevant professional experience in transportation engineering. Airport and highway experience is preferred.

Proficiency with cost controls including managing cost loaded schedules, design and construction cost estimates, PMIS systems, and understanding of Earned Value.

Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain Massachusetts Professional Engineer license is desired.

Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is desired.
