We have the following position available:

GIS Software Developer

Patrick’s Utilities and Renewables Division is currently in search of an experienced Software Developer to join our growing Software Development and Data Management practice. This is an excellent opportunity to help build out the expanding competencies for the practice including cloud development, mobile development, dev ops, quality assurance and documentation.

Responsibilities for this role include:

Client Delivery:

Correlate client challenges to actionable technology implementations, which includes developing software

Participate in solutions discussions led by software architects, consultants or sales teams

Manage project risks and issues

Quickly respond to requests for immediate issues while also being able to drive projects to completion

Added value by assuming software development roles beyond development including: requirements gathering and analysis, functional specification, software design, testing, and deployment

Practice Development:

Enhance our current software development methodologies and points of view for the marketplace

Devise creative methods to enhance our team’s capabilities in delivering software development and associated work

Business Development:

Assist in business development by participating in the creation of work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for projects

Actively build a professional network and affiliate network in the local community

Organization and Team Commitment:

Collaborate with the rest of the software development team to design and launch applications

Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; have a willingness to communicate issues/risks quickly and participate in solutions

A certain degree of professional assertiveness is required. Be willing to assert your position when required; also, possess the judgement skills to determine when and how

Travel requirements: up to 20 %

A natural sense of urgency, initiative and a positive team player philosophy to be reflected in daily work ethics

A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required as well as flexibility in job role and working hours during critical deliveries

Role Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree

3+ years of hands-on professional experience

Good knowledge of standard methodologies, concepts, best practices, and procedures within a software development environment

A detailed understanding and hands on experience implementing web, Mobile and Cloud software using well known development kits, API’s and languages

Understanding and ability to lead a technical engagement

Ability to maintain code integrity and organization

Understanding and implementation of security and data protection

Highly experienced with back-end programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, .NET, JavaScript)

Proficient experience using JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, Vue, Meteor, Ember, Backbone, Aurelia, Polymer Knockout, React)

Development experience for both Web, Mobile and desktop applications

Understanding of server-side languages including (e.g. Jade, EJS, Jinja)

Experience with Cloud message APIs and usage of push notifications

Knowledge of code versioning tools (e.g. Git, CVS, Bitbucket, Beanstalk, Subversion, Code Commit, TFS)

Additional consideration for candidates with knowledge of Esri ArcGIS development libraries (ArcGIS JavaScript API, ArcGIS Runtime SDKs, ArcGIS API for Python, ArcGIS REST API)
