OVERVIEW

Following further contract awards, we are experiencing an increased demand for our services and our strengthened position in the market brings a continuous flow of new extensive and challenging projects. Consequently, we are actively seeking to recruit professional, Geotechnical Engineer to join our highly skilled geotechnical team engaged on a variety of new metro, tunnel and underground infrastructure projects.

ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head of section, the role will see you working on a variety of projects and will offer you significant opportunities for skills and career development. You will be working across a range of ground engineering and geotechnical aspects of projects with colleagues from other COWI group offices worldwide.

WORK TASK & RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for carrying out analysis and design of geotechnical structures

You will conduct analysis and design of earth structures and will carry out settlement analysis

You will proactively take part and take lead where appropriate in delivery of geotechnical tasks, including scope definition and manning schedule, compilation of design documents, production of design drawings, production of design report

You will liaise with other disciplines within Tunnels and Underground Structures team and other business units within COWI

You will be working primarily as a geotechnical engineer supporting the design of tunnels and various underground structures such as deep excavations, piles, retaining walls, micro-tunnels, shafts, ground movement assessment (settlement) and building impact assessment and proposal of instrumentation and monitoring

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES NEEDED

You hold a Masters in Geotechnical with 2-5 years of design experience in Geotechnical design. This includes tender design, basic engineering and detailed design of retaining walls, slopes, ground movement assessment, finite element analysis of tunnels and underground structures.

Additionally, you can relate to the following:

You are specialised within the field of ground engineering

You have good knowledge within geotechnical design for a variety of tunnel structures, e.g. diaphragm walls, secant piles, sheet piles, foundation design, tunnel design using segmental lining, tunnel design using SCL lining, NATM tunnels

You also have knowledge geotechnical design for a variety of infrastructure projects, e.g. deep excavations, steep cuts and retaining structures, bored and driven piles

You have knowledge of ground treatment methods

You also have working knowledge of geotechnical analysis and design software like Wallap, Plaxis, FLAC, etc.

You have worked with Indian and International codes (IS, BS, EC and AASHTO etc.)

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES NEEDED

Excellent communication skills with strong command over written & spoken English to be able to interact with internal as well as external teams

Ability to make effective scheduling and plan for execution

Experience of working in an international design company
