The Boca Raton, FL office of WJE, is seeking exceptional entry-level team members with an interest in building enclosure consulting. In-Depth knowledge of the design and construction and evaluation of building enclosures is not required. Your efforts will be supported by industry leaders and an engaged team. An Associate Engineer will manage small projects and assist with all aspects of project administration on larger projects. As a project team member, you will be responsible for, investigations, testing, failure diagnosis, construction observations, and creation of client deliverables; assume primary responsibility for key aspects of projects; and complete assignments with limited oversight.

What you need to take the next step:
Bachelor's degree in Building Construction and Technology, Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering and excellent academic performance
A passion and curiosity for investigating and solving problems in existing structures
Experience related to the evaluation and repair of existing structures or building enclosures is considered a plus
Drafting experience with AutoCAD
Ability and interest in performing work in the field and to travel outside the local area, depending on local workload and project locations
Typical project opportunities include:
Completing on-site failure investigations, condition assessments, and litigation support (at new and existing construction) to evaluate problematic conditions; including survey and documentation of distress, field testing, sampling, photographing, and sketching
Organizing field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving
Analyzing research and investigation data and develop alternate schemes for solving problems
Preparing draft investigation reports, repair sketches, bid documents, addenda, change orders, and other work product
Conducting on-site observations of work in progress and prepares site visit reports using various reporting formats
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability. Individuals must have the dexterity to be able to operate office and field equipment such as computer, printer, fax, copier, telephone, voice mail system, and other office and field equipment. Requirements may also include:
Ability to attend meetings at the various office, field and construction sites
Ability to perform inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments
Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform work in the temperature extremes presented by work in the outdoors
Ability to read construction drawings, diagrams, printed materials, and computer screens
Ability to record data clearly and write passages for reports, letters, etc.
Ability to travel
Ability to safely work at heights
Ability to safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts and other access equipment
Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards
Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations
Medically fit to utilize respiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment
Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle
