Job Description

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Wood) is currently seeking a Geotechnical / Materials / Civil Engineer or Geologist to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida and participate on a wide variety of geotechnical-related projects. Types of projects will generally include roadways, bridges, commercial structures, industrial structures, dams, levees, and water control structures. Projects are primarily located within Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia; however, there is potential for projects throughout the southeastern United States, Puerto Rico, and Caribbean. Candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other Wood offices throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities

Will support the office's Geotechnical group working under the direction of one or more Project Managers / Principal Engineers within the office:

Perform field exploration, inspection, analysis; provide technical support with supervision, including onsite direction of geotechnical drilling activities

Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day-to-day correspondence

Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs

Act as a data-gatherer; prepare maps and charts; run various computer programs and spreadsheets

Perform field construction and foundation inspection services

Review and interpret data and test results

Prepare field reports, internal / external correspondence, and formal

Perform field construction monitoring

With experience, may supervise subcontractors and/or company employees

Follow company safety standards, and site / project safety standards

Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements

Conduct engineering or scientific calculations; coordinate geometry; perform minimal design work, preliminary analysis, and boring layout

Skills / Qualifications

B.S. in Civil / Geotechnical / Structural Engineering / Geologist

0 - 3 years of related experience

E.I.T. for engineers

Familiar with geotechnical engineering analysis, design, and construction

Enthusiastic, self-starter with desire to provide excellent service to clients

Strong communication skills (oral and written)

Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish a plus

Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus

Valid driver’s license

Willing to travel and work out of town for extended periods

Able and willing to work in the field to monitor geotechnical drilling, foundation inspections, or field sampling and testing

Physical requirements may require lifting up to 50 pounds and traversing over rugged terrain

Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
