Job Description


Purpose of position:

Support the operational fleet with performance and reliability engineering with a focus on ECR North America wind turbine parts. This role is focused on improving the performance of wind turbine parts performance through the understanding of current parts performance and the identification and testing of replacement parts including refurbishments. Included in this focus is the design, development, and on-going operation of test benches required for Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic and print boards wind turbine parts.

Essential Functions:

Ensure the highest level of health and safety practices on the assigned wind farm(s). This includes wearing essential safety equipment, including a personal fall arrest system, as well as identifying potential hazards on the job.

Pass physical fitness tests required to maintain Global Wind Organization Certification.

Climb wind towers and access wind turbines to perform check, inspections tests and measurements.

Adherence to the company’s values and behaviors as defined by the ONE E.ON philosophy.

Assure that all on site related engineering activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the business and for the wind farms

Design tests to validate function and quality of wind turbine parts that are being used for the ECR NA Operations wind fleet

Design test setups/benches to validate parts function/lifetime and quality

Root cause analysis on control boards and other Wind turbine equipment

Analyse, create refurbishment option for Wind turbine equipment like print boards, motors, hydraulic and other equipment

Trouble shooting support: support operations where needed in immediate issues.

 Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

All other duties assigned


2 years of overall experience in testing (electronic) equipment, including the design, construction, and operation of test benches.

5+ years of overall experience in testing (electronic) equipment, including the design, construction, and operation of test benches preferred.

Wind Turbine Engineering, controls, and mechanical equipment testing is preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited school

A Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited school is preferred
