Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Drafts and / or reviews engineering surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys

Prepares or reviews legal descriptions of areas surveyed

Performs and coordinates QA/QC of survey data, plats, and legal descriptions to ensure they are accurate and completed in accordance with the project scope and appropriate guidelines and manuals

Supervises and schedules survey crews

Evaluates performance of survey crew members

Oversees project costs and prepares data for client input

Responsible for managing the acquisition, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment including instruments and vehicles

Prepares and maintains a variety of client deliverables including reports, plans, plats, deeds, and surveys


Ensure that the company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of team projects

Coordinates with other engineers and supporting staff during preliminary and final plan preparation for conformance to standards and code requirements

Responsible for meeting assigned project goals & objectives and ensuring on schedule accurate completion within or below budget

Participate in business development activities

Demonstrates a proactive, collaborative approach with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project.

Meet or exceed client expectations


Strong computer skills in the area of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Strong CAD skills in the area of AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation / GEOPAK

Strong technical written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas

Self-starter who can work independently or part of a multi-discipline team.

Education: 4-year bachelor’s degree

Experience: 8 to 15 years’ experience

Professional Land Survey License in the States of Illinois and Indiana.
