Job Description

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for experienced Field Inspectors for the Red Line/Orange Line Program. The Field Inspector (FI) is a project level position and reports directly to the RE. The Field Inspector will observe, monitor and record construction contract work on a daily basis for compliance with the MBTA’s safety, quality, and cost and schedule objectives, as defined in the construction contract documents. The FI, in addition to observing the work, will pro-actively address field issues as they arise by bringing them to the attention of the RE for resolution in a timely manner. The FI will prepare daily field reports recording the construction activities, manpower, equipment, materials, and quality and safety issues via the e-Builder system.

Responsibilities:

Reads and comprehends contract documents.

Prepares inspectors daily report of assigned work activities.

Monitors construction progress to assure proper installation sequences and compliance with schedule and contract requirements and state and local regulations.

Inspects and documents individual activities performed by the contractor.

Performs measurement of completed work to date.

Monitors construction site for contract compliance and safety parameters.

Assist the client with submittal review

Experience with special trackwork fabrication and installation

Serve as a liaison to the Client in reviewing that submittals and RFIs are in accordance to project specifications and client standards.Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

5 years construction related experience

Preferred Qualification/Skills:

Bachelor's Degree

5 to 7 years of Transit or Railroad Construction Experience

Valid driver’s license

Experience with rail/transit yards and facilities preferred.

Familiarity with electronic file management systems; e-Builder or similar
