HDR is in search of an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our expanding Northern California Geotechnical team. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will act as a project manager, technical advisor, and/or reviewer for a wide variety of geotechnical projects within our Northern California operations. The primary duties of the Senior Geotechnical Engineer are to: Lead technical teams of multiple professionals in the performance of geotechnical investigations and analyses (field investigations, laboratory testing, seepage analyses, stability analyses, settlement estimates, seismic assessments, lateral earth pressure evaluation, shallow and deep foundation design recommendations, and ground improvement assessments). Develop geotechnical investigation programs, design recommendations, technical reports, and provide technical reviews during the design and construction of water resources, water, and other infrastructure projects. Provide project and technical task management including directing geotechnical staff, preparing geotechnical reports, and monitoring schedules, scopes, and budgets. Provide independent quality control reviews of geotechnical work performed by HDR and its sub-consultants.
Must be a California Registered PE with a Bachelor’s Degree (GE registration and Master’s Degree preferred) in Civil/Geotechnical or Geology disciplines. 15+ years of relevant geotechnical experience. Dams and levee experience preferred with high level of soil mechanics and seismic technical skillset. Experience with Microsoft Office applications GeoStudio (Slope/w Seep/w etc.), UTEXAS4, FLAC (optional), or other geotechnical software as appropriate.
