Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering (geotechnical or water resources emphasis), Mining Engineering or Engineering Geology or related degree, from a 4-year accredited college or university. Masters preferred.
1-5 years of demonstrated experience in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or Water Resources engineering analysis and design preferred.
Key Job Elements
In this role, you will:
Perform geotechnical analysis and coordinate field inspections and investigations under supervision of a project engineer, including on-site direction of geotechnical drilling activities.
Monitor construction operations, including earthwork, dewatering, and excavation support installations and prepare engineering field reports.
Inspect test borings, test pits, monitoring wells, and install and read geotechnical instrumentation.
Conduct laboratory and field testing of soils.
Perform a variety of engineering analyses and calculations, with and without the use of engineering software.
Preparation of technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.
Although not required, a candidate who brings additional experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
Design of streambank stabilization, stream restoration, engineered stormwater management basins, engineered wetlands, dams, levees, green infrastructure, and/or similar engineered water management features.
Stormwater sampling, permitting, and compliance.
Environmental site assessment.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be ademonstrated team-oriented approach to problem-solving,ave strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients and fellow engineers/technicians.
Experience with develop and layout of CADD drawings is strongly preferred
Accuracy, dependability and strong organizational skills.
Exceptional time management skills, and ability to manage multiple assignments at any given time.
Must hold a valid driver’s license, and willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan and Ohio.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
May be required to enter and work within confined spaces, once appropriately trained.
Leadership and Project Management Experience
Must be able to work on multiple projects for multiple project managers within budgets and deadlines.
Must express a desire to learn all aspects of being a successful project manager and consulting professional in the future.
Ability to interact with existing clients to understand their needs.
