We’re looking for a geologist or civil engineer with at least 2 years of dam-related experience who’s interested in supporting a multi-year project near Johnson City, Tennessee. This role entails collaborating with a team of client personnel, contractor representatives, and other Geosyntec personnel to monitor dam safety and other infrastructure throughout the life of one of the nation’s most urgent infrastructure projects.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
This position involves providing dam safety monitoring services and engineering evaluations throughout the implementation of an extensive grouting program to rehabilitate an aging dam. Some of the key responsibilities for the junior dam safety engineer position include:
Installing and monitoring geotechnical instrumentation;
Conducting dam and levee safety inspections;
Monitoring construction projects;
Conducting geological/geotechnical field investigations; and
Writing and reviewing technical reports.

Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. Fieldwork: This is a field-based position for the duration of the dam rehabilitation program.
Upon successful completion of this project, the selected candidate is expected have the opportunity to transfer to one of Geosyntec’s US offices. In that role, the selected candidate will be given the opportunity to further develop his/her career.

BS degree in geology or civil, engineering, with demonstrated experience in dam-related projects. (required)
Advanced degree in geology, or civil, geological, or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
At least 2 years of experience in dam-related projects. (required)
Experience with construction quality assurance and/or construction management services. (preferred)
Experience with overseeing field investigations including borings, cone penetration tests, and instrumentation installation. (preferred)
Strong verbal and technical writing skills. (required)
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
