We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and enthusiastic senior civil / flood risk management engineer to join our expanding Water & Environment design team in Cork to meet current and future workload.

Due to our increasing workload we would like to commence discussions with interested, suitable candidates who will be given the opportunity to work on flood risk management based projects in addition to providing design support on large multidiscipline projects. The role will provide the opportunity to work on a range of challenging, dynamic and high-profile projects. We have recently completed the South Western Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management study for the Office of Public Works and are currently involved in the delivery of the Clonakilty and Enniscorthy Flood Relief Schemes. We are also on the OPW design frameworks for the delivery of the €1 billion worth of Flood Risk Management Schemes over the next 10 years.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be required to lead a team of junior engineers in the delivery of flood risk management projects. To this end a working knowledge of the following fields of are desirable:

Hydrology;

Hydraulic modelling and mapping;

Storm water drainage;

SUDS;

Natural Flood Management;

Flood scheme benefit assessment;

Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments;

The design of flood defences;

Environmental Assessment;

GIS;

Public and Stakeholder consultation;

Construction Contract Administration;

Report writing;

Coordinating and reviewing project-related correspondence and incoming data, reports and drawings;

Preparing cost estimates;

Project Management;

Bid preparation;

Other ad-hoc duties.

Candidate Specification

Candidates should have the following experience and qualifications;

Hold a Level 8 degree in civil or environmental engineering with between 7 and 10 years relevant post graduate experience;

Have Chartered Status (or equivalent);

Strong analytical skills and good first principles knowledge of water related academic modules (hydraulics, hydrology, flood risk engineering etc);

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead a team of more junior engineers and work alongside colleagues of other disciplines;

Excellent IT skills and familiar with computer applications such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and AutoCAD
