Our environment team provides a wide range of specialist environmental support to internal and external clients and has an increasing workload within both the transportation and development sectors. The team is currently looking to expand to meet its current and future commitments within the transportation, water and power sectors. Due to this continuous growth we now have a need for an experienced ecologist to join our team in Southampton.

You will work within a large team of ecologists and other environmental staff on a wide range of projects across multiple sectors (power, transport, oil and gas, maritime). This role will suit an outgoing individual who wants to be part of a growth business in this specialist area and help support delivery of marine ecological consultancy and mitigation works in a fast moving, client focussed commercial environment. You will primarily be office based. In addition, there may be a need for general ecological support to a range of projects within an environmental team, working closely with other disciplines to ensure ecological objectives for projects are delivered successfully, within budget and to programme.
Your experience should be a good mixture of the following:
Degree in ecology/ biology or directly related subject (minimum of 2.1 classification)
Experience of obtaining a variety of protected species licences and liaising with regulatory bodies to negotiate and obtain consents
Relevant experience connected with major infrastructure schemes
Relevant consultancy experience
Strong report writing skills, attention to detail and ability to write concise reports
Experience in developing scope of work for environmental studies including ESIA and EIA, IFC guidelines and similar assessments
Experience in planning, assisting and delivering surveys to fulfil project requirements related to EIA, HRA etc.
Experience in preparation and writing ecological sections of environmental impact assessments ensuring that legislative guidelines are met
Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork in the UK and internationally
Knowledge of wildlife legislation, including planning process and EIA assessments
Ability to work independently, take the initiative, make robust, defensible decisions and work to tight deadlines to meet client needs
Strong report writing skills
Proficient in Word and Excel
Finance skills would be advantageous
Basic GIS skills
