EXP is currently seeking a Structural Engineer for its Chicago office to work within the Infrastructure – Transportation business practice. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of project or senior structural engineers with a focus on highway, railway and mass-transit related structures. Project types will be diverse and include, but not be limited to, new structures, inspection and evaluation of existing structures, and rehabilitation of existing structures. The projects will involve a wide variety of structure types, foundations and materials for clients such as IDOT, CDOT, WisDOT, Tollway, Metra and CTA.
Assist with on-site inspection, analysis and condition assessment of existing structures;
Perform Construction and Life Cycle Cost estimates;
Perform Load Rating calculations;
Assist with planning and schematic/geometric layout of new structures;
Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate;
Prepare plan drawings and details;
Assist in preparation of construction specifications
Perform material quantity take-offs;
Organize design calculations; and
Assist with project construction administration including reviews of shop drawings and requests for information.
The Skills, Knowledge and Abilities We Seek
3-5 Years progressively responsible relevant experience.
MS in Civil Engineering – Structures track required.
Licensed PE/SE desirable, but not required.
Bridge Inspection experience, including 80 hour NHI Course, preferred but not required.
Experience with foundation analysis and design.
Knowledge of structural analysis software.
Proficient with Bentley’s MicroStation.
Proficient with MS Office software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
