ABOUT THE POSITION:
Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? As an entry-level geotechnical engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world situations while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. You’ll work on projects involving site characterization; landfill design and construction; earth-retaining structures; deep and soft/weak foundations; dams and water containment structures; forensic investigations and litigation support; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; numerical analysis of stability and deformation; and geohazard / earthquake characterization / mitigation.
Some of the key responsibilities for the entry-level geotechnical engineer position include:
Conducting geotechnical field investigations;
Monitoring heavy civil construction projects;
Performing and reviewing engineering calculations, such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, seepage, and stormwater modelling;
Geotechnical and environmental site characterization;
Landfill design and permitting;
Dam and levee evaluations;
Developing construction documents; and
Writing and reviewing engineering reports.

Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
Fieldwork: Varies depending on project demands. (Up to 25%)
Overnight travel: Rarely, but as needed for some project sites. (up to 10%)

BS degree in civil and/or environmental and/or geotechnical engineering. (required)
Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting. (preferred)
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification. (preferred; or eligible)
Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS. (preferred)
Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
Outstanding problem-solving abilities. (required)
Commitment to lifelong learning and growth. (preferred)
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
