This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of talented, experienced, and innovative young professionals, specializing in transportation infrastructure design and management. The selected individual will perform civil engineering work assignments and develop technical reports, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives, in direct coordination with the project manager and potential communication with the client.
Roles And Responsibilities
With general supervision and moderate decision-making:
Use prescribed methods to perform pavement engineering tasks under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow operations through a series of detailed steps or processes.
Assist project professionals with project execution, proposal and report preparation.
Prepare invoices and monitor budget of projects throughout duration of the projects.
Execute "small" projects to gain experience in project management.
Ensure commitments to clients are met in both timeliness and quality of engineering services.
Meet all utilization goals as determined by Activity Center Manager or supervisor.
Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures.
Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including safety program and quality management system.
Communicate tactfully and effectively, verbally and in writing.
Maintain effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment.
Execute work duties in an organized and efficient manner; plan and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and milestones.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Geology or equivalent field is required.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license is required.
At least 2 years of experience in an engineering position is required.
Effective verbal and written communication skills is a must, with excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others to achieve desired result.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, present information and ideas, and respond to questions in a clear and concise manner is a must.
Practical knowledge of statistics, numerical modeling and computational methods for data analysis and quality management is required.
Ability to learn advanced technical concepts and current infrastructure data acquisition and processing procedures is required.
Staying abreast of current professional practices and technological advancements is required.
Maintaining meaningful involvement in professional organizations is strongly encouraged.
Advanced knowledge of standard office and engineering software and equipment is required.
Possessing current driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record is a must.
Valid passport is required.
Performs moderate work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Daily activities include both field and office environments.
Some travel may be required including possible long-term out-of-town assignments.
Possible international travel/assignments may be required.
Graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Pavement Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or other relevant field is preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred and a plus.
2 to 4 years of experience in Civil Engineering is preferred.
At least 2 years of experience in pavement engineering is preferred and a plus.
Experience with pavement evaluation and design, and pavement management software is preferred. Knowledge of and experience with programming languages is preferred to automate tasks and increase efficiency of engineering procedures
