Job Description

Position Description:

Barrick is looking for a Project Engineer to join the Open Pit Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

Manage engineering consultants doing detailed engineering,

Design and costing for large capital projects;

Provide design input to engineering consultants to ensure designs meet Barrick’s operating permit requirements;

Interface with current staff and departments to obtain customer input and support of designs;

Interface with environmental department to ensure all permitting is in place to prevent delays to construction, commissioning and operation of capital projects;

Complete in-house design for improvements of the appropriate size and complexity

Write and generate scope of work for construction projects;

Create financial justifications for projects; manage capital spend budgets

Report/present variance on project progression;

Procure equipment, supplies and contracts, as necessary;

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree or equivalent experience required

Knowledge in operations, construction and project management required

5+ years progressive experience required

Experience with PMI project management preferred

Professional Engineer (Nevada) designation preferred

Surface (civil, construction, concrete, structural steel, etc.) experience required

Supervisory experience required

Experience with managing contractors and contract management required

Competence in MS Office required Oracle knowledge preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills required

Scheduling software experience required

Ability to work in a team required

Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.
