We are looking for a Tunnel Engineer to join our team in Florham Park, NJ.

Role Summary

Under the guidance of professional engineers, the incumbent will be assisting a highly professional team that provides consulting, project management and detailed engineering expertise on numerous tunnel design, rehabilitation and condition assessment projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

Prepares plans, designs, calculations and cost estimates under the supervision of experienced engineers;

Prepares work plans, schedules, quantity take offs and budgets;

Works collaboratively with the CAD technician team;

Solves engineering problems and challenges;

Prepares standard documents, such as technical specifications;

Liaises with other professionals and departments to gather information for projects;

Assists in the preparation of engineering/geotechnical reports and other technical documents;

Performs site and field inspections and condition assessments; and

Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Minimum Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution, with 5 - 10 years of related experience in tunnel and/or underground structures design and project management, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience ; Master's degree strongly preferred;

Registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in home province or state; Registration as a Professional Engineer preferred;

Ability and willingness to learn;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

Strong attention to details;

Good judgement and decision making skills;

Superior planning and organizational skills combined with the ability to work under pressure on multiple deadlines;

Strong written and verbal communication skills including the proficient use of Office tools (Word, Excel, and Power Point);

Ability to work with staff located remotely;

Ability and willingness to travel;

Experience working with North American structural engineering design codes;

Working knowledge of 2D and 3D geo-structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, Plaxis, FLAC/FLAC3D, UDEC, Swedge, Unwedge, SNAIL or similar programs; and

Working knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.
