Owing to increased workload and development within our Marine and Geotechnical sector, we now seek to recruit a Head of Section who will be responsible for leading a team of 20 within geotechnical structures in Scandinavia. This includes welfare, HR and resource management as well as taking lead in projects in the defined market segments for geotechnical engineering as Discipline Lead or as Technical Specialist.
You ideally hold a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
You possess a minimum of 10 years post-graduation experience within geotechnical engineering
You have good knowledge of the Scandinavian infrastructure and marine market and a strong network with key clients
You possess strong technical skills within geotechnical design
You have high-level project management skills with insight into multidisciplinary projects
You have the ability to maintain an overview in a complex environment with cross-cultural differences
You have keen interest in people development and experience with HR management
You take ownership, drive accountability and will act as a role model for the COWI values
You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Danish and English
Reporting to Vice President, Marine and Foundation Engineering, you will be responsible for the effective management and control of the geotechnical Scandinavian team, together with leading geotechnical packages either as Discipline Lead or as Technical Specialist.
Your responsibility lies within following areas and will include:
Allocation of staff to projects relevant for the section
Responsible for regular input to the consolidated department workload prognosis
Maintain close liaison with other Head of Sections in the department to ensure internal knowledge and resource sharing
Coordinate resource management across BU Marine (India, UK, UAE, Singapore)
Proactive approach to build relationship with COWI Sweden and COWI Norway to utilize synergies
Line Management and HR
Recruitment of staff
Conducting Personal Development Plans with all employees in the section
Contributory responsible for salary adjustments, overviewing training and administration budgets and implementation of the department strategy
Project and Technical Management
Responsible for leading geotechnical part of larger multidisciplinary projects in Scandinavia with focus on technical issues, risk management, financial follow-up for own tasks and mentoring of younger staff.
Responsible as technical lead for several projects with focus on high technical level and operational excellence
Contributory responsibility for continuous marketing and business development activities within geotechnical engineering in Scandinavia
Contributory responsible for development and implementation of yearly action plans to support BU Marine strategies
