NV5 has a need for a full time entry level engineer (geotechnical focus) for its San Diego, CA location. The successful candidate will also be available to commute to NV5’s Irvine, CA location on an as-needed basis (estimated at 4 to 6 work days a month). Position responsibilities include the following
Coordination of field explorations
Field logging of soil and rock samples during field exploration programs
Contributes to studies, evaluations, modeling, assessments, and investigations for specific projects.
Prepares work plans, interprets data and test results, contributes to technical reports and may be responsible for other project components.
Aid project manager in coordinating laboratory testing programs.
Prepares project documentation, including reports and related documents.
Reviews field testing and observation practices and work products.
BS (MS preferred) in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required;
2 to 4 years of relevant experience;
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn commercial software applications;
Working knowledge of common geotechnical software programs such as APILE, LPILE, SHAFT, GEOSTUDIO
Strong verbal and written and communication skills;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Overnight out of town travel and the ability to work outside normal business hours required;
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions;
Routine lifting required: 40 to 50 lbs.
