Knight Piésold’s Nevada practice is seeking a qualified Senior Geotechnical Engineer with experience in the mining industry and strong leadership capabilities who desires to attain a senior management position. This position offers a variety of roles and is well suited to a self-starting individual with strong ambitions for success and promotion within the company.
This senior level engineer will support technical work performed in Elko, Denver and Tucson but with a principal focus on Nevada projects. The ideal candidate will be based in Elko, but the position may also be based out of our Denver and Tucson offices with frequent travel to Elko and throughout Nevada.
The work will consist of consulting civil and geotechnical engineering and environmental services for mining, municipality and private clients, and includes project planning, design, construction supervision and operational assistance to clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Direct and implement marketing efforts for engineering assignments,
Maintain existing clients and develop new clients through focused networking and business development initiatives
Lead and coordinate the preparation of engineering proposals, including reviewing client information, assessing scope of work, procedures and requirements and developing the approach to be undertaken, budgeted, scheduled and implemented
Oversee and review the preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications
With other senior Knight Piésold USA staff, provide technical direction and manage staff and other resources to successfully complete certain engineering assignments while maintaining a high level of quality in all work products

Qualifications to perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
Technical Ability/Experience - Strong working knowledge of, and at least 12 years of experience in Civil/Geotechnical engineering within the mining consulting sector, with 3+ years at a senior level.
Education – Ideally a Master's degree (M. Sc.) in civil/geotechnical engineering although consideration will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (B. Sc.) in civil/geotechnical engineering with 15+ years of experience.
Certificates and Licenses - Registration or eligibility, with the requisite experience, to be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Nevada is required. A valid driver’s license is also required.
Work will be in both office and field environments with travel to various outdoor sites determined by project needs. Periodic travel will be required both within and outside of Nevada and the US. Adherence to safety standards including those of the firm, MSHA, OSHA is mandatory.
