The Seattle, WA office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an intern with a Civil Engineering background to support our growing business in the summer of 2019. Schnabel’s Seattle location, a growing office established in 2017, offers a challenging and team-oriented work environment focused on high-profile dam projects for private and public sector clients across the US.
Qualifications for the position include an academic background in Civil Engineering at an accredited four-year program. Rising seniors and graduate students are preferred. Prior professional work or summer intern work in a related field is desirable but not required. Candidates must possess good oral and written communications skills, computer literacy, and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern’s practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. Responsibilities for this intern-level position include assisting in performing hydrology and hydraulic studies; reinforced concrete design; geotechnical investigations and analyses, preparation of construction plans; drafting reports; performing construction observation and materials testing. Some travel may be required.
