The Seattle, WA office of Schnabel Engineering is currently seeking a Staff/Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support our growing business. Schnabel’s Seattle location, a growing office established in 2017, offers a challenging and team-oriented work environment focused on high-profile dam projects for private and public sector clients across the US.
The successful candidate for this position will gain practical knowledge and experience while solving real-world engineering problems under the supervision and mentoring of senior engineering personnel.
Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, including slope stability and seepage analyses, estimation of settlement and lateral earth pressures, liquefaction and earthquake engineering analyses
Perform retaining wall design and reinforced concrete design
Prepare construction plans
Draft engineering reports
Observe construction and perform materials testing related to the evaluation, design and construction of earth and concrete dams
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline from an ABET-accredited program
0-3 years of professional experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel
Master’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline from an ABET-accredited program
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam
Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
Ability to pass a pre-employment employment drug screening
